Short story

The main thing that I enjoyed about this short story was that it really just let me explore my imagination and see what I could come up with. My story was something that I was passionate about and that I really enjoyed working on, when I was writing my story it felt like something that I was doing for fun rather than for school. It was also probably the most efficient I’ve been with school work, because I would always carve out time to work on it way before it was due.  Although the story itself was fun to write, the process of writing the story was much harder.

My story was about two sisters, Brianna, and Lee. Brianna died in a car accident that Lee, feels responsible for and as a result, Lee is in denial, and still believes that her sister is alive.
First we started off by reading many other short stories, and see what elements they had that made them successful. One of the elements that was most important was the characters. Character will either make or break the story, because the reader gets attached to the story. I enjoyed character with a strong sense of self, attitude, and a certain determinedness, mostly because that is what I aspire to be. The characters that I wrote about were two sisters and both of them had very strong personalities even though they were very different.
We also looked at different devices that the author can use in the story. I decided to use flashbacks, to reveal how Brianna died, and how Lee and Brianna’s relationship was. I think that it was effective, because it told another story, and revealed important information.
The first writing we did was writing the introduction, I felt like writing the introduction was the hardest part of the process, because at the beginning I had a rough idea of what I wanted to do with the story, but the details were still taking form in my head. I knew that I didn’t want to reveal that Brianna was not actually there with Lee in the beginning, I wanted to build up suspense with strange happenings that suggested that Brianna was not actually there, and that made it hard to write. It was also hard at the end of the first full copy because I had to make sure that all the pieces fit together well, and I ended up having a lot more pieces than I originally thought that I would.
I was really proud of my final product but if I had to do one thing over again, I would pay more attention to my grammar because thats the only place where I really lost points.
