The Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
voice project was one of my favorite projects so far this year. It forced me to
really analyze the book for what I thought was important and connect it to my
own life. The reason I liked this project so much was because I got to use
pictures, quotes, and music that meant something to me, and that I wasn’t
constrained in what I could do.
I struggled with this project for a while, but it
wasn’t because I didn’t have any ideas it was because I had an abundance of
them. I constantly came up with new themes and had trouble deciding on one.
Twice before I used the theme opportunity I had picked a different theme only
to find that everything that I wanted to say wouldn’t fit within the
constraints of the theme. I also struggled to choose quotes. There were so many
quotes that I found powerful and wanted to use but I had to narrow it down to
quotes that directly related to my theme.
The theme I chose
for the project was, the opportunity to live life, and I connected that to the
characters by illustrating how they were able to overcome the tragedies that
happened in their life to try and continue to live life to its fullest
potential. I connected this to my own life by saying how I have a lot of
opportunities to meet new people, make new friends, and learn new things.
I decided to
create a video presentation on windows movie maker, which was challenging
because I didn’t have much experience using movie maker.
I used the song
“Opportunity” by Quvenzhané Wallis, from the new
Annie movie. This song was one of my favorites from the movie, and was
really fitting for my project because it talks about how we only get one
opportunity to make something of our lives and when we get that chance we have
to take full advantage of it.
Another big part of my presentation
was the pictures that I used. I used all personal pictures of me and my
friends, family, and doing things that were important to me. A lot of my
pictures featured my friends because they are a huge part of my life. I also
used some pictures of my family because they are of course a huge part of my
life. I connected the important people in my life to my theme of opportunity
because we have the opportunity to love and to give love in our lives, and we
can’t be willing to throw away an opportunity at love because of something
petty.
I want to include this because
unlike a lot of my projects it is really personal and shows my ability to
reflect on my own life and what I have been given.
